Deforestation is blamed for 20% of the world's CO2 emissions, and halting forest destruction while aiding the people living there is a major piece of ongoing climate treaty negotiations. The effort is called REDD, Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation. A new online tool using NASA satellies helps monitor deforestation.
