Coal
The coal production process from its origin as a fossil fuel through the mining of coal both underground and at the surface. Topics include coal supply & demand, marketing, trading, coal in electricity generation, efforts to develop and deploy various “clean coal” technologies including carbon capture and storage (CCS), and political debates over coal mining and consumption. Those debates include how to abate coal-burning plant emissions such as sulfur, mercury and greenhouse gasses, whether mountaintop removal mining should continue, and mine worker safety.
