Murkowski Wants March Vote on EPA Measure
Sen. Lisa Murkowski will seek a vote in March on her effort to stop the EPA from regulating greenhouse gas emissions.
The Alaska Republican last week introduced a "resolution of disapproval," which, if passed, would nullify the EPA's finding that GHGs are a danger to human health.
The Supreme Court ruled in 2007 that the agency had to make a finding on whether danger existed. The December finding is the legal basis for EPA to regulate GHG sources under the Clean Air Act.
But Murkowski says EPA regulations would hurt the struggling economy, and Congress should decide on GHG regulation.
Her spokesman, Robert Dillon, tells Clean Skies News she will probably seek a vote in March -- after Massachusetts Republican Scott Brown is seated and Congress returns from its February recess.
The measure has 35 Republican and three Democratic co-sponsors.
