GA Solar to Invest $1B in N.M. Photovoltaic Plant
Spanish company GA Solar is investing $1 billion in New Mexico.
That money will develop a 300-MW photovoltaic plant GA Solar will build about 100-miles east of Albuquerque. The company expects to complete the project by 2014.
The project will create about 300 construction jobs and 75 permanent jobs.
The plant's power will qualify for state renewable energy tax breaks.
This is the third "green economy project" announced this month by Gov. Bill Richardson. Wind tower manufacturer Johnson Plate and Tower is constructing a plant in Santa Teresa and green building products manufacturer CD2 Enterprises is moving to the Gallup area.
